• Received B.S. with distinction in biology from Bucknell University, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, 1970

• M.D. received in 1974, University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry

• Completed internship and residency in ophthalmology at Strong Memorial Hospital, 1979

• Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Family Medicine, University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry

• Past President of the New York State Ophthalmological Society, the Ontario County Medical Society and the Medical Staff of F.F. Thompson Hospital

• Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and has served on its Board of Councilors

• Medical Director of The Eye Care Center and past Chief of Surgery at FF Thompson Hospital

PERSONAL

Dr. Marchenese is the third generation of his family to live and work in the Finger Lakes area. Although he has retired from patient care after 30 years of practice in Canandaigua, he continues in his administrative role as Medical Director of the Eye Care Center.  Dr. Marchenese has served as a medical volunteer in Tonga, Yugoslavia, Cambodia, Thailand, and the Philippines.  He enjoys running and traveling with his family.
