Making Your Cataract Surgery Customized
with the Light Adjustable Lens™

We're excited to offer the latest innovation in intraocular lenses - the Light Adjustable IOL. This is a revolutionary lens that can be adjusted after your surgery to ensure your vision is as clear as possible. Unlike traditional IOLs, the Light Adjustable Lens can be modified using specialized UV light treatments to enhance your vision. This is the world’s first lens implant that can be customized to your eye after surgery.

With the Light Adjustable Lens, you will have the opportunity to preview possible vision outcomes with your cataract surgeon before you establish your final vision. Essentially, this allows you to “test drive” the different vision settings before deciding on your final choice.

How Is the Lens Adjusted?

The Light Adjustable Lens makes adjusting your vision after cataract surgery a possibility. Once your eyes have healed from surgery, your doctor will use a specialized instrument to administer gentle light treatments. This instrument is called a Light Delivery Device. It sends a specific wavelength of light to the lens, which modifies the shape of the lens material and the focusing power. You may need anywhere from two to five treatments with the Light Delivery Device to reach your optimal vision outcome.

What to Expect After Cataract Surgery with Light Adjustable Lenses

After surgery (often called post operative time), your doctor will have you wear UV-blocking glasses.

This will protect your eyes from exposure to other sources of UV light, which can cause uncontrolled changes to the Light Adjustable Lenses.

After your prescription has been finalized, you can stop wearing the UV-blocking glasses and enjoy your custom vision!
